The Rapid Life-Saving Skills (RLSS) program prepares individuals to act quickly and confidently when emergencies occur, bridging the gap between basic first aid and professional emergency response.
Developed by Safety Solutions of the Rockies, RLSS is a blended training program that incorporates Stop the Bleed and other practical life-saving skills designed for employers and members of the general public who want training beyond traditional first aid. The course emphasizes hands-on, real-world skills that help participants recognize emergencies, stabilize patients, and provide critical care until professional responders arrive.
Unlike many traditional programs, RLSS provides advanced, practical training without the cost, registration requirements, or scheduling restrictions often associated with school-based courses, making it ideal for workplaces, community organizations, and individuals seeking meaningful emergency preparedness.
Course competencies include:
- Street survival and situational awareness
- Hands-only CPR and AED use
- Naloxone administration for opioid overdose emergencies
- Epinephrine auto-injector use for severe allergic reactions
- Life-threatening bleeding control, including tourniquet application and wound packing
- Recognition and treatment of shock
- Management of penetrating chest injuries
- Safe patient movement techniques
- Proper patient positioning and stabilization
